Segovia Day Team Excursion & Tour

The walled city of Segovia may seem as a medieval city with its high and thick walls and 15th century buildings but in fact it stretches back to pre- Roman times as an important settlement and fortress.
Its prominent 2,000 year-old Roman aqueduct is as impressive a structure as can be seen anywhere and the start point as we enter another world and time.

Segovia has life and history in one – the great cathedral and Alcazar are more than monuments but a lasting testimony to civilisations that have come after each other – building quite literally on the past achievements of others.

Its gastronomy invites to the savour its life in traditional taverns serving endless tapas washed down with fine local Castilian wine – its Asador estaurants legendary for its its signature dish of roast sucking pig.

About the activity:

We offer a full day tour including return coach or minibus transfers from Madrid (allow around 45 minutes each way) – on arrival we do a panoramic tour around the walled old city before stopping at the Roman aqueduct to meet our local guide who will take you along its ancient cobbled streets through its Jewish quarter, hidden houses and monuments built commemorating Segovia’s long and rich history.

En-route we can stop for a delicious and traditional Castilian lunch with wine before completing the day with a walk along the medieval battlements and return to the waiting coach.

The route back can be the scenic route over the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range with an optional stop at the summer palace in La Granja whose charm is all of its own.

A full or half day tour can be arranged for a memorable day out from Madrid.
