Segovia Half or Full Day Trip
Situated on the other side of the Guadarrama Mountains in Castilla y Leon, and just 45 minutes by coach, the walled town of Segovia is one of the most impressive of the region. Its famous Roman aquaduct, gothic cathedral and Moorish Alcalzar fortress are must see sites for anybody interested in Spanish history. The tour includes all entrances and includes optional lunch of Segovia´s signature of roast suckling pig in one of the town´s historical taverns.
Toledo Half Day or Full Day Tour
Known as the city of three cultures ( Christian, Muslim and Jewish) Toledo is so much more than its parts – its one of the great cities of the early medieval Europe. Situated along the banks of the River Tagus that winds its way through central Spain to its Atlantic mouth in Lisbon, its walls have borne witness to some of the great moments of Spanish history. Its narrow streets lead to some of the most extraordinary buildings in Spain including it great cathdral and impressive Alcalzar. Enjoy a half day visit or full day experience with typical lunch.
El Escorial Monastery & Valley Of The Fallen Tour
Nestled under the Guadarrama Mountains on the Madrid side, the imposing 16th century royal palace and monastery of El Escorial is also the setting for Spain´s royal mausoleum is one of the largest buildings in Spain and essential visit. The Monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with secrets from the history of Spain hidden inside. Included after the guided tour is traditional Castilian lunch in the town before heading to the nearby Valley of the Fallen Monastery and Mausoleum, which houses the remains of some 30,000 dead from the Spanish Civil War and until recently the tomb of General Franco.
Aranjuez Half Day Tour
Situated around 45 minutes south of Madrid, Aranjuez is on the two rivers of the Tagus and Jarama. It is known for its grand Summer Royal Palace, which dates back to the 16th century. It’s been an official residence of the Spanish royal family for centuries. Now famous for its local produce of strawberries – there is a historical train route from Madrid called the Strawberry Train – the town itself has existed since Roman times, and was once the headquarters of the Catholic Order of Santiago.
Ruta de Don Quixote La Mancha Day Tour
Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes is the most famous and read book in Spanish literature. This novel, which tells the adventures and especially the misfortunes and adventures of an impoverish knight and his faithful servant Pancho is the setting for this route that winds its way acorss the plains of Castilla La Mancha from Toledo to the town of Consuegra whose famous windmills are such an integral part of the story. Here a Castilian lunch under the castle walls as we rest before following in the footsteps of the “Knight of the Sad Countenance”, who could not distinguish fantasy from reality.
Avila Half Day or Full Day Tour
The medieval walls of Avila are the longest and best preserved in Spain – the city itslef stretches back to Roman times given its strategic position overlooking the Castilian plains. Its cathedral, 16th century market square as well as its many convents and churches reflecting the city´s strong religious imprint on Spain ( Avila was the birthplace of Saint Teresa, or “La Santa” ) as well as its signature veal steaks of Chuleton de Avila are must haves and a great day out from Madrid.
